You can easily recreate the aesthetic pink and green layers of the popular Starbucks Strawberry Matcha Latte at home. This recipe uses simple ingredients to deliver a creamy, refreshing, and quick cafe-style drink.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 teaspoon ceremonial grade matcha powder
  • 2 tablespoons hot water (175°F / 80°C)
  • 1 cup oat milk (or milk of choice for a dairy-free matcha latte)
  • 1/2 cup homemade strawberry puree or syrup
  • 1 tablespoon sweetener (like simple syrup or maple syrup), adjust to taste
  • Ice cubes
  • Optional: Strawberry Cold Foam Recipe (see notes)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the strawberry layer: In the bottom of a tall glass, add the strawberry puree or syrup. If you want a thicker, sweeter layer, use 3 pumps of strawberry syrup.
  2. Add ice: Fill the glass about three-quarters full with ice cubes.
  3. Add the milk: Pour the oat milk (or your preferred milk) over the ice, leaving space at the top for the matcha.
  4. Prepare the matcha: In a small bowl, whisk the matcha powder with the 2 tablespoons of hot water until completely smooth and frothy, ensuring no clumps remain. This step is key for a good matcha flavor.
  5. Layer the drink: Gently pour the whisked matcha mixture over the milk layer. Pour slowly over the back of a spoon to help maintain the distinct pink and green layers.
  6. Serve immediately: Enjoy your aesthetic pink and green drink right away. If you are making strawberry cold foam, spoon it over the top before serving.

Notes

  • For a true Starbucks copycat experience, use vanilla sweet cream cold foam or a dedicated strawberry cold foam recipe on top.
  • To make a quick strawberry puree, blend 1 cup of fresh or frozen strawberries with 1 tablespoon of sweetener until smooth. This makes enough for several drinks.
  • For a vegan strawberry matcha latte, always use a plant-based milk like oat milk or almond milk.
  • This recipe is ready in under 5 minutes, making it a perfect quick homemade cafe drink. See more inspiration on our Pinterest account!
