A simple, spiced apple butter recipe made in your crockpot with minimal prep. Perfect for breakfast spreads or gifting.

  • 5 lbs apples, cored and chopped (no need to peel)
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground cloves
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Place chopped apples in the slow cooker.
  2. Add brown sugar, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, and salt. Stir to combine.
  3. Cook on low for 8-10 hours or high for 4-5 hours, stirring occasionally.
  4. Once apples are soft, blend with an immersion blender until smooth.
  5. Stir in vanilla extract and cook uncovered for another hour to thicken.
  6. Let cool before storing in jars.
