A classic Philly cheesesteak with thin-sliced ribeye, caramelized onions, and your choice of cheese on a hoagie roll.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ribeye steak, thinly sliced
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 4 hoagie rolls
  • 4 slices provolone or American cheese (or cheese whiz)
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Add onions and cook until caramelized, about 10 minutes. Remove and set aside.
  3. Add sliced ribeye to the skillet and cook until browned, about 5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. Return onions to the skillet and mix with the steak.
  5. Divide the mixture evenly among the hoagie rolls.
  6. Top with cheese and let it melt slightly before serving.

Notes

  • Freeze the steak for 30 minutes before slicing for easier thin cuts.
  • Toast the hoagie rolls lightly for extra crunch.
