A classic custard dessert made with day-old bread, baked to golden perfection, and served warm with vanilla sauce.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups day-old bread, cubed
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup raisins (optional)
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking dish.
  2. Place the bread cubes in the dish. Sprinkle raisins if using.
  3. In a bowl, whisk milk, eggs, sugar, vanilla, and cinnamon.
  4. Pour the mixture over the bread. Let it soak for 10 minutes.
  5. Drizzle melted butter on top.
  6. Bake for 40-45 minutes until golden and set.
  7. Serve warm with vanilla sauce.

Notes

  • Use stale bread for better texture.
  • Let the pudding rest before serving for a firmer consistency.
