A smooth, spiced apple butter perfect for toast, gifting, or meal planning. Made with simple ingredients and no peeling required.

Ingredients

  • 4 lbs apples (Gala or Fuji), cored and chopped
  • 1 cup apple cider or water
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground cloves
  • 1/2 tsp allspice
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Instructions

  1. Combine apples and cider in a slow cooker or large pot.
  2. Cook on low for 8-10 hours (slow cooker) or simmer for 2-3 hours (stovetop), stirring occasionally.
  3. Blend until smooth with an immersion blender.
  4. Add sugar, spices, and salt. Cook uncovered for another hour until thickened.
  5. Let cool, then store in jars for up to 2 weeks in the fridge or can for longer shelf life.

  • Use a mix of sweet and tart apples for balanced flavor.
  • Adjust sugar to taste, especially if using sweeter apples.
  • Sterilize jars properly for canning.
