Ingredients
Scale
8 ounces cream cheese, softened
4 ounces smoked salmon, finely chopped
2 tablespoons fresh dill, chopped
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
1 teaspoon lemon zest
1/4 cup red onion, finely minced
1 tablespoon capers, drained and chopped (optional)
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Pinch of salt (taste first, as salmon is salty)
Instructions
Place the softened cream cheese in a medium bowl. Use a hand mixer or a sturdy spoon to beat the cream cheese until it is smooth and fluffy.
Add the finely chopped smoked salmon, fresh dill, lemon juice, lemon zest, minced red onion, capers (if using), and black pepper to the bowl.
Gently fold all the ingredients together until they are just combined. Do not overmix; you want some texture from the salmon.
Taste the dip and add a small pinch of salt if needed.
Transfer the dip to a serving bowl. Cover and chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld. This is a great make ahead appetizer.
Serve your best smoked salmon appetizer cold with bagel chips, crackers, cucumber slices, or toasted baguette rounds for crostini spreads.
Notes
For an ‘Everything Bagel’ twist, sprinkle the top of the finished dip with everything bagel seasoning before serving.
If you prefer a smoother texture, you can pulse the ingredients briefly in a food processor, but be careful not to turn it into a paste.
This dip is naturally gluten-free and keto friendly when served with appropriate dippers like vegetables or low-carb crackers.
