Make the viral Dubai Street Food sensation at home! This recipe swaps a standard bun for a flaky, buttery paratha and features cheesy beef patties topped with caramelized onions and a tangy pickle garlic sauce. Perfect for your next weekend cheat meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 store-bought or homemade flaky parathas
  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20 recommended)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 slices American cheese
  • 1 large yellow onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons dill pickle relish
  • 1 tablespoon pickle juice
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Pickle Garlic Sauce: In a small bowl, mix the mayonnaise, dill pickle relish, pickle juice, and garlic powder. Set aside.
  2. Caramelize Onions: Melt the butter in a skillet over medium-low heat. Add the sliced onions and cook slowly, stirring occasionally, for 15 to 20 minutes until deeply browned and sweet. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Cook the Patties: Divide the ground beef into 8 equal portions. Season lightly with salt and pepper. Heat a cast-iron skillet or griddle over medium-high heat. Place two beef portions on the hot surface and immediately smash them thin using a sturdy spatula. Cook for 1-2 minutes until the edges are crispy.
  4. Cheese and Flip: Place one slice of cheese on each patty. Flip the patties and cook for another minute until the cheese is melted. Remove from the heat.
  5. Toast the Parathas: Lightly toast the parathas in the same skillet for about 30 seconds per side until warm and slightly crisp.
  6. Assemble the Burger: Spread a generous amount of the pickle garlic sauce on the bottom paratha. Layer with two cheesy beef patties, a portion of caramelized onions, and top with the second paratha. Repeat for the second burger. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • For extra flakiness, gently press the parathas in a dry pan over medium heat until they puff slightly before assembling.
  • If you prefer a sharper flavor, substitute Dijon mustard for half of the mayonnaise in the sauce.
