Ingredients
Scale
3 slices white bread, medium thickness
4 slices thick-cut bacon
4 oz thinly sliced roasted turkey breast
2 slices ripe tomato
2 leaves crisp iceberg lettuce
1 tablespoon mayonnaise, high quality
1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 tablespoon butter, softened
Instructions
Cook the bacon until it is very crisp. Drain the bacon on paper towels to remove excess grease. This is key for crispy bacon sandwich technique.
Lightly spread softened butter on one side of each bread slice.
Toast the bread slices in a skillet over medium heat, butter-side down, until golden brown and crisp on both sides. You are aiming for maximum toastiness.
In a small bowl, mix the mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, and black pepper.
Spread the mayonnaise mixture evenly on the non-toasted side of two of the bread slices.
On the first slice of bread (bottom layer), layer half of the turkey, one slice of tomato, and half of the lettuce.
Place the second slice of bread on top of the first layer.
On the second slice of bread, layer the remaining turkey, the crispy bacon, and the remaining lettuce.
Top with the third slice of bread.
Secure the ultimate triple decker sandwich by inserting two long wooden skewers through the sandwich, one near each side.
Carefully slice the sandwich into four triangles, cutting from the center out through the skewers. Remove the skewers before serving immediately for impressive sandwich presentation.
Notes
To prevent soggy sandwiches, lightly toast the bread well and keep wet ingredients (like tomato) away from the bread surfaces as much as possible.
