Make this sweet and salty Christmas Puppy Chow, also known as Holiday Muddy Buddies, for a fun, no-bake snack mix perfect for parties or quick Christmas food gifts.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 cups Rice Chex cereal
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup peanut butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar, divided
  • 1 cup red and green M&M’s candies
  • 1/2 cup white chocolate chips (optional, for drizzling)

Instructions

  1. Measure the Chex cereal into a very large bowl. Set aside.
  2. In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the semi-sweet chocolate chips and peanut butter. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring well after each, until the mixture is smooth and fully melted.
  3. Stir the vanilla extract into the melted chocolate mixture.
  4. Pour the chocolate mixture over the Chex cereal. Gently stir until all the cereal pieces are evenly coated.
  5. Place 1 cup of the powdered sugar into a large zip-top bag. Add the coated cereal mixture to the bag. Seal the bag, removing excess air. Shake the bag until the cereal is completely coated with powdered sugar.
  6. Spread the coated cereal onto a large baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  7. Immediately sprinkle the red and green M&M’s candies over the warm cereal. Gently toss to distribute the candies.
  8. If using, melt the white chocolate chips in a small bowl in 20-second intervals. Drizzle the melted white chocolate over the mixture.
  9. Let the Christmas Puppy Chow set completely at room temperature, about 30 minutes, before breaking apart any large clumps.
  10. Store this festive Chex cereal mix in an airtight container.
