A warm, spiced cake that captures the flavors of apple cider donuts in an easy-to-serve dessert.

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup apple cider
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar (for topping)
  • 1 tsp cinnamon (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a 9-inch round cake pan.
  2. Whisk flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt in a bowl.
  3. Cream butter and sugar until light. Add eggs one at a time, then vanilla.
  4. Mix in apple cider and buttermilk.
  5. Fold in dry ingredients until just combined.
  6. Pour batter into pan. Bake 30-35 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Mix brown sugar and cinnamon. Sprinkle over warm cake.
