- 8 oz elbow macaroni
- 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
- 1 cup Monterey Jack cheese, shredded
- 1 cup Gruyère cheese, shredded
- 2 cups whole milk
- 3 tbsp butter
- 3 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cook macaroni according to package instructions, then drain.
- In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in flour to make a roux.
- Gradually whisk in milk until smooth. Cook until thickened.
- Add salt, pepper, and paprika. Stir in cheeses until melted.
- Combine cheese sauce with cooked macaroni.
- Transfer to a baking dish and top with breadcrumbs.
- Bake for 25 minutes until golden and bubbly.
Notes
- For extra crunch, mix breadcrumbs with melted butter before topping.
- Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
