- 4 cups fresh sour cherries, pitted
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 1 tsp lemon juice
- 1 cup old-fashioned oats
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup cold butter, cubed
- Preheat oven to 375°F.
- Mix cherries, sugar, cornstarch and lemon juice in a bowl.
- Pour cherry mixture into a greased 8-inch baking dish.
- Combine oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon and salt in another bowl.
- Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Sprinkle topping evenly over cherries.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes until bubbly and golden.
- Cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- Use frozen cherries if fresh aren’t available.
- Serve warm with vanilla ice cream.
- Leftovers keep well refrigerated for 3 days.
