A healthy and flavorful salad featuring pan-seared ahi tuna with a sesame crust, mixed greens, and tangy ponzu dressing.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ahi tuna steaks (6 oz each)
  • 2 tbsp sesame seeds (black and white)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 4 cups mixed greens
  • 1/2 cup shredded carrots
  • 1/4 cup sliced cucumber
  • 1/4 cup thinly sliced radishes
  • 2 tbsp chopped green onions
  • 1/4 cup ponzu sauce
  • 1 tbsp low-sodium soy sauce (or coconut aminos)
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp grated ginger

Instructions

  1. Coat the tuna steaks with sesame seeds, pressing gently to adhere.
  2. Heat olive oil in a pan over medium-high heat.
  3. Sear the tuna for 1-2 minutes per side for rare, or 2-3 minutes per side for medium-rare.
  4. Slice the tuna thinly against the grain.
  5. Toss mixed greens, carrots, cucumber, radishes, and green onions in a bowl.
  6. Whisk together ponzu sauce, soy sauce, sesame oil, and ginger for the dressing.
  7. Drizzle dressing over the salad and top with sliced tuna.

Notes

  • For a low-sodium option, use coconut aminos instead of soy sauce.
  • Serve immediately to keep the tuna at the desired doneness.
  • Pair with a sous-vide precision cooker for perfectly cooked tuna every time.
