Easy roll-out sugar cookies that hold their shape, perfect for decorating with royal icing. Ideal for holiday cookie boxes or any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Whisk flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.
  2. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in egg and vanilla.
  4. Gradually mix in dry ingredients.
  5. Chill dough for at least 1 hour.
  6. Roll out dough and cut shapes.
  7. Bake at 375°F for 8-10 minutes.
  8. Cool completely before decorating.

Notes

  • For glossy royal icing, use meringue powder.
  • Chill dough between batches for crisp edges.
