Homemade Elderberry Syrup

A simple, honey-sweetened elderberry syrup for immune support, perfect for canning or refrigerating.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup dried elderberries (or 2 cups fresh)
  • 4 cups water
  • 1 cup raw honey
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 tsp grated ginger
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (optional)

Instructions

  1. Combine elderberries, water, cinnamon, and ginger in a pot.
  2. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 30 minutes.
  3. Remove from heat and strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve.
  4. Stir in honey and vanilla extract (if using) while still warm.
  5. Let cool, then transfer to sterilized jars or bottles.

Notes

  • For a kid-friendly version, add a splash of orange juice.
  • Store refrigerated for up to 2 months or water-bath can for longer shelf life.
  • Dosage: 1 tsp daily for prevention, 1 tbsp during illness (adults).
