A moist banana bread recipe with chocolate that uses sourdough discard for a rich, tangy flavor.

Ingredients

  • 3 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1/2 cup sourdough discard
  • 1/3 cup melted butter
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a loaf pan.
  2. In a bowl, mix mashed bananas, sourdough discard, melted butter, sugar, egg, and vanilla.
  3. In another bowl, whisk flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  4. Combine wet and dry ingredients. Fold chips.
  5. Pour batter into the loaf pan. Bake for 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Let cool before slicing.

Notes

  • Use very ripe bananas for the best sweetness.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
