Chicken tenders with fries: Discover the ultimate recipe!

chicken tenders with fries

A classic comfort food dish featuring crispy chicken tenders served with golden fries, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound of chicken breast: Boneless and skinless is best for tender, juicy bites.
  • 1 cup of buttermilk: This adds moisture and flavor. If you don’t have buttermilk, you can make your own by mixing 1 cup of milk with 1 tablespoon of vinegar or lemon juice.
  • 1 cup of all-purpose flour: This will be used for breading. You can also use whole wheat flour for a healthier option.
  • 1 teaspoon of garlic powder: A must for that extra kick of flavor!
  • 1 teaspoon of paprika: This gives a lovely color and a hint of smokiness.
  • Salt and pepper: To taste, of course! I usually go for about 1 teaspoon of salt and ½ teaspoon of pepper.
  • Vegetable oil: For frying. Canola or peanut oil works well too.
  • 2 large potatoes: For the fries. I love using russet potatoes for their perfect texture.

Instructions

  1. Marinate the chicken in buttermilk for at least 30 minutes or overnight.
  2. Mix flour, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper in a shallow dish for breading.
  3. Wash, peel, and cut the potatoes into desired fry shape, then soak in cold water for 30 minutes.
  4. Heat oil in a skillet and bread the marinated chicken before frying until golden brown.
  5. Fry the potatoes until crispy and golden, or bake if preferred.
  6. Serve the chicken tenders with fries and your favorite dipping sauces.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add spices to the buttermilk when marinating.
  • Let the breaded chicken rest before frying for better coating adherence.
  • Soak fries to remove excess starch for crispiness.
  • Use a thermometer to ensure chicken reaches 165°F (75°C).
