  • 1 pound of breakfast sausage (or bacon)

  • 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon of dried mustard
  • Optional: 1 cup of diced bell peppers or onions
  • Optional: 1 cup of cooked spinach or kale
  • Optional: 1/2 cup of diced tomatoes
  • Optional: 1/2 cup of cooked and crumbled feta cheese
  • Optional: Fresh herbs like parsley or chives

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cut the day-old bread into cubes.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and dried mustard.
  4. Layer the bread cubes in a greased baking dish, then sprinkle the cooked sausage and any optional add-ons.
  5. Pour the egg mixture over the layered ingredients and gently press down.
  6. Bake for 45-55 minutes until golden brown and set.
  7. Let cool for a few minutes before serving.
