A show-stopping patriotic cake decorated to look like the US flag using fresh berries. Perfect for Fourth of July celebrations.

Ingredients

  • 1 box white cake mix
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries
  • 1 cup fresh blueberries

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
  2. Mix cake mix, water, oil, and eggs in a bowl. Pour into pan and bake for 25-30 minutes. Let cool completely.
  3. Whip heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla until stiff peaks form. Spread over cooled cake.
  4. Arrange blueberries in a square in the top left corner for the stars.
  5. Slice strawberries and arrange in rows to create the stripes.
  6. Chill for 1 hour before serving.

  • Use room temperature eggs for best results.
  • For a firmer frosting, chill the bowl and beaters before whipping cream.
  • Pat berries dry before placing on cake to prevent bleeding.
