A patriotic red, white, and blue dessert pizza perfect for Independence Day celebrations.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups (188 grams) all-purpose flour (or gluten-free alternative)
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup (113 grams) unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup (150 grams) granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons lemon zest
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons lemon extract
  • 1 large egg (50 grams), room temperature
  • 8 oz (225 grams) cream cheese, room temperature
  • 1 1/3 cups (160 grams) powdered sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • pinch of salt
  • 1/3 cup (80 ml) heavy cream, cold
  • 1 pound (453 grams) strawberries
  • 6 oz (170 grams) blueberries

Instructions

  1. Rinse and dry strawberries and blueberries.
  2. Mix flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.
  3. Beat butter and sugar until combined.
  4. Add lemon zest, lemon extract, and egg.
  5. Gradually mix in flour mixture.
  6. Chill dough for 1 hour.
  7. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  8. Press dough into a 10-inch circle on a greased pizza pan.
  9. Bake for 15-18 minutes until lightly browned.
  10. Cool crust completely for 1 hour.
  11. Beat cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla, and salt until smooth.
  12. Gradually add heavy cream and beat until stiff peaks form.
  13. Spread topping over cooled crust.
  14. Arrange strawberries and blueberries in a flag pattern.
  15. Serve within 12 hours for best results.

  • For gluten-free version, use gluten-free flour.
  • Use brick-style cream cheese for best results.
